About Me

Personal Profile: Dr. I.O. Igwenyi is a Native of Mebiowa Okposi in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State. Attended Community Primary school Obioha Okposi (FSLC, 1982), Eziopkosi High School, Obioha Okposi (WASC/GCE, 1987); Abia State University Uturu (B.Sc.,1986); University of Nigeria Nsukka (M.Sc, 2003) and Ebonyi State University (Ph.D, 2011). Currently an Associate Professor in Department of Biochemistry, Ebonyi State University. Also the immediate past Head of the Department and currently the Chairperson of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), EBSU Branch. Taught Biology and Chemistry in Government Teachers College Mokwa Niger State, Urban Secondary School, Abakaliki, Army Day Secondary School, Abakaliki both in Ebonyi State. Been external Examiner (undergraduate and Postgraduate) to many Universities, Attended many conferences and seminars where I had delivered keynote address, research papers and scholarly presentations both locally and internationally. Have many articles in Clarivate, Scopus indexed and other highly ranked and indexed journals international and local journals. Have academic books and contributed Book chapters to standard Biochemistry books. Research areas include Biotechnology (alternative fuel: biodiesel), plant products and therapeutics, lipid Biochemistry, industrial Biochemistry, water analysis, molecular biology and medical biochemistry. Currently the only Coordinator of NSBMB, South East one. Member: Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology (NISEB); Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN); Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON); European Society of Clinical Microbiology and infectious Diseases, Switzerland, etc. Happily married with children.
