The 2025 International Workshop of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), held in collaboration with FASBMB and IUBMB, seeks to redefine the future of biochemistry and molecular biology education in Africa through the integration of advanced technologies and automated systems. Anchored on the theme “Redefining the Future of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education in Africa through Advanced Technology and Automation,” the workshop provides a strategic platform for researchers, educators, and emerging scientists to exchange innovations shaping contemporary bioscience.
This year’s submissions span eight major subthemes, reflecting the breadth and depth of modern biochemical research and its applications:
-
Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MBB, 1–18): exploring cutting-edge molecular techniques, genetic engineering, and biotechnological innovations.
-
Drug and Vaccine Development (DVD, 19–25): highlighting translational research, novel therapeutics, and vaccine discovery pipelines.
-
Bioinformatics and Data-Driven Research (BDR, 26–34): showcasing computational biology, big-data analytics, and AI-enhanced research methodologies.
-
Medicinal Biochemistry (MB, 35–71): presenting biochemical insights into disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and therapeutic targets.
-
Single-Cell Genomics and Precision Medicine (SPM, 72–76): advancing personalised healthcare through next-generation sequencing and cell-level resolution technologies.
-
Maternal, Infant and Young Child Health (MIY, 77–87): addressing molecular and nutritional determinants of early-life health outcomes.
-
Nutritional and Food Biochemistry (NFB, 88–92): examining biochemical aspects of nutrition, functional foods, and metabolic wellness.
-
Industrial and Environmental Biochemistry (IEB, 93–105): focusing on sustainable bioprocesses, environmental biotechnology, and industrial biochemistry applications.
